Friends of ASCO - Become a Sponsor

ASCO is a non-profit organisation that provides daily assistance to hundreds of people. This comes at a price, but it is seen as a small price compared to the difference ASCO makes.

ASCO has huge annual overheads for expenses such as teas, coffee, power, phone, internet, building rental, vehicle expenses, lawyers, accountants, wages, and printing, with only a third provided through contracts with the ODHB. ASCO is heavily reliant on financial assistance from fundraising events along with the goodwill of Dunedin's people and businesses.

How Friends can help ASCO

Become a Friend and assist ASCO in any of the following ways:

  • Become a financial sponsor, either by donating a single contribution or as an annual pledge.
  • Make a bequest to ASCO in your will.
  • Offer your services to drive one of ASCO's vehicles.
  • Donate food, tea and coffee.
  • Donate a van to transport groups around or to help people in desperate and urgent need.
  • Donate work tools that can be used on training jobs in the field, for example for painting, decorating, light building, landscaping, lawn mowing, gardening, and many other odd jobs.
  • Donate furnishings for the ASCO Centre such as a microwave oven, television, video, tables and chairs.
  • Donate computers and printers.
  • Donate games and puzzles.
  • Make your time and expertise available to ASCO.
  • Volunteer your assistance for fundraising drives like the street appeal.
  • Employ ASCO Members to do odd jobs like painting, renovating, or lawn mowing. This contributes in particular to the improved wellbeing and self-esteem of ASCO Members.

Also, if you feel you would like to contribute in some way but do not know how, give us a call or come to see us. We would be happy to show you around and tell you more about the services to ASCO Members. Options for your assistance to ASCO are bound to become clear during such a visit.

How ASCO can help Friends

ASCO is grateful for the assistance received from Friends and Sponsors and will acknowledge that assistance in any of the following ways, as is appropriate:

  • Advertise your business on the ASCO website with a logo and link to your website.
  • Advertise your business on ASCO's vehicles that travel all over Dunedin daily.
  • ASCO will acknowledge Friends in the monthly ASCO newsletter.
  • ASCO will acknowledge Friends in the ASCO annual reports.

The ASCO newsletters are published on this website and, along with the annual reports, are also mailed and emailed to many Dunedin businesses and high profile citizens who associate with ASCO.

We pledge to do our best to repay the kindness and support received from Friends in any way that we possibly can.
